What is Detailing Clay? (de-contamination)

ABOVE (Average Paint Condition After Washing)
Detailing clay is used in the de-contamination process of all the surfaces. A lubricant is sprayed onto the surface, then using a piece of detailing clay flattened down and working it in a back and forth motion across the surface. This is done while still spraying the lubricant helping the detailing clay glide over the surface and removing the contamination.
Even after a thorough washing process it will not remove contamination like tree sap, industrial fallout and tar spots to name a few. These contaminants bond to the surface which is not always visible to the naked eye. All these contaminants make the surface feel gritty which severely compromise the touch and optical clarity of the finish. The de-contamination process we use will remove these contaminants leaving the surfaces smooth-as-glass to the touch. Polishes and waxes can then be applied and wiped off leaving surfaces dramatically improved. |
